The plugs in the box are picked for concrete and solid brick — up to 20 kg (44 lb), tested. Other walls need a different approach, and the quiz above is the fast way to find yours.
Concrete and solid brick
This is the wall the mount is made for. The plugs and screws in the box are the right ones for it — drill two holes and you're done. Check first for cables or pipes behind the spot you've chosen.
Drywall / plasterboard
Plasterboard alone does not hold a bike. Find the stud behind it and screw straight into the wood, skipping the supplied plug. No stud where you want the bike? Fix a timber batten across two studs and mount onto that. How to find a stud and do it properly.
Hollow brick, aerated concrete (Ytong), hollow-core panel
These are weaker than they look, and the supplied plugs aren't the right fixing. We haven't hung a bike on these ourselves, so we won't put a number on it — write to shop@palkdot.com, tell us what your wall is, and we'll tell you which anchor to use, or say honestly we wouldn't do it.
Choose the right Palk size
Palk comes in four finishes and two lengths, 30 cm and 40 cm. Pick the length by your handlebar width — the wall only decides the fixing, not the size.
